A search is underway for a
lobster fisherman who went missing off the south coast of Wexford this
afternoon has been called off for the evening.
The local man fell
overboard from his boat, south of the Great Saltee Island near Kilmore Quay in
Wexford. He was reported missing around 12.30pm.
The man understood to have
a young family, and is described as "a very experienced fisherman".
Rosslare, Fethard-on-Sea,
and Kilmore Quay RNLI lifeboats, the rescue helicopter from Waterford Regional
Airport and over 20 local fishing vessels quickly gathered at the scene to
assist with the search. Naval divers also were called to the area.
Sea conditions were said
to be very calm in the south-east this afternoon with good visibility.
It is believed the search
will resume again at first light tomorrow.
