Gardai in Dungarvan are investigating a
single vehicle crash in which the driver was the sole occupant.
The incident happened yesterday evening on
the N72 at Ballygalane between Cappoquin and Lismore at about 6-30pm.
Gardai have reported that the car was in collision
with a wall and burst into fire. A body was recovered from the car and was
removed to Waterford University Hospital.
Gardai have not yet positively identified the
deceased or given details of their gender but the name of a youth has been
mentioned on a local sports clubs social media page.
The stretch of road was closed over night to
allow a Garda Forensic Examination to take place but reopened this afternoon.
