Gardai investigate after body found in Ballysaggart

Gardai in Dungarvan are investigating the circumstances surrounding the finding of the body of an elderly man yesterday evening.

The discovery of the body of a 90 year old man was made at a house in the Ballysaggart area near Lismore.

Gardai were called to the scene shortly after 5pm on Saturday evening. The man was pronounced dead shortly after Gardai arrived and the State Pathologist was notified. Assistance from the Garda Technical Bureau was also sought.

The body remained at the scene overnight and the scene was preserved and a preliminary examination took place today. The body has since being brought to University Hospital Waterford for a full post mortem.

The course that Gardai will take will be determined by the outcome of a post mortem.
