Gardai have arrested a man in his 20’s in connection with the death of
Pensioner Paddy Lyons who was found dead at his home at Ballysaggart on
Saturday evening.
The arrested man was detained this afternoon and is being held at a Garda
Station in County Waterford. He was arrested under section 4 of the
Criminal Justice Act.
Speaking to the media earlier this afternoon in Ballysaggart Superintendent
Michael Lacey told reporters that they were treating Mr. Lyons death as murder.
Superintendent Lacey told reporters that detectives working on the case
were looking to speak with a couple who raised the alarm after they called into
one of Mr. Lyons neighbours and spoke of their concern for the pensioner.
Gardai have since said that shortly before 6pm this evening the couple had
made contact with Gardai.
An incident room has been set up at Dungarvan Garda Station. Anyone with
information is being urged to contact Gardaí in Dungarvan on 058 48600, the Garda
